(LUV)

LUV is the stock symbol for Southwest Airlines. Southwest is known for their extraordinary management, customer appreciation/care and employees first approach to business. It's amazing to me as a small business owner that Southwest can carry the "we care" theme all the way to their stock symbol. Talk about being consistent and living the message all the way from the ground level to the board room and beyond. Now that's a company to emulate.

Ok, this needed a response. I was actually thinking today about what a f-ing disaster this company is. Well, maybe not the company, but the actual flying portion. Have you ever flown Southwest???? They basically took the Greyhound bus philosphy and applied it to air travel. The people are herded in like cows, the prices aren't that good, and they are ALWAYS late! There isn't a worse carrier out there. Even Air Trans is like a Bentley comparitively. Now Jet Blue, that is a great company.

Jet Blue is a great company; but Southwest was the pioneer of several things that Jet Blue just jacked - primarily flying to regional airports where they could get competitive flight times with lower gate fees. They are usually very on time (maybe panicked outbursts from large passengers require a double-check with TSA before take-off?) and have a great track-record of employee retention and customer loyalty. Besides, I just liked the stock symbol.
